U16 Boys Football team win the South Down Cup

Earlier today, our U16 Boys emerged victorious from a hard-fought encounter with local rivals Kilkeel High. The final was decided in the second half by a superb free kick from Calum Simmons. There were great performances across the field, including captain Conall King, who led - as always - by example; JJ Allister, who exemplified the talent of our younger players; and Xavier Rooney, once again tireless on behalf of the team. On this occasion, however, the man of the match award was split between Cameron Eakins, utterly solid in defence, and Ben McNerlin, who kept the Kilkeel defence very busy.

Overall, a very good game and credit to both teams for their commitment and sportsmanship. Notably, many of the squad were part of our Gaelic team that claimed the Bearnageeha Cup just a month ago. This ‘double’ is testament to the hard work, dedication and outstanding talent of the players and their coaches. Well done to all involved. We salute you.

The Year 12 boys are now taking a temporary break from their sporting exploits to concentrate on their GCSE studies. Fair play to them.
