U16 Boys Football team through to South Down Cup Final

Well done to our U16 Boys’ team, who claimed a 1-0 victory over New-Bridge Integrated in the semi-final of the South Down Cup yesterday. In a game of nip and tuck, the decisive moment came with a spectacular overhead finish from Calum Simmons.

Overall, it was a game dominated by impressive defensive work on both sides. For Shimna, the standout players at the back were Conall King, JJ Allister and, man of the match, Cameron Eakins ( ‘so assured’, to quote his captain ).

The final, to be played against local rivals Kilkeel High, will take place in the coming weeks. The U16 team won the South Down Cup in Year 8 and are keen to follow in the footsteps of our U18 squad last year by reclaiming the trophy.
