The end of an era

Today was the last day in our original school building. It’s served the Shimna community over the past three decades.

It’s also been an emotional day, with a mixture of laughter, tears, poignant memories and a sense of excitement about what is to come. Meanwhile, work on the new school is continuing at pace. This morning, our canteen team inspected their new premises and gave them a seal of approval.

Packing up went right to the wire and, at the end of the day, our students mucked in admirably, helping to bring decent furniture to the Hall. Truly, today was a great team effort.

The decant has commenced, with Myrtle and John from St John’s arriving early to claim our trusty screen and projector. A massive thanks as well to Seamus, Damian and Sean McConkey for their help in breaking up decommissioned equipment.
