Students lead the way in Children's Mental Health Week

Students led the way over the course of our Mental Health Week at Shimna last week, which was based on the theme ‘My Voice Matters’.

Thank you to Seren, Michaela, Arthur and Anthony for leading the assemblies, and to Ruby for producing the specially commissioned film

Congratulations to Evie Sloan in 8D who won the "Express Yourself & Bake a Difference competition". Evie's culinary creation shared the positive message of "Be a rainbow in someone else's cloud".

Thank you to Andrea & Carys for hosting their ‘Appreciation Station’ on Friday at lunchtime, delivering positive messages to passers-by.

A highlight of the week was a live concert by up-and-coming boy band Absnt Mind, who performed a selection of hits for Years 8-11, as well as sharing their own experiences around mental health and wellbeing. Their messages were both timely and supportive, striking a positive chord with the audience – and it was great to welcome back our very own former student and band member, Conor Marcus.

A big thank you to @theprimeagency for helping to make this happen. Judging by the numbers of autographs and selfies afterwards, Absnt Mind may be on the road to stardom. We wish them the very best of luck - they are inspiring young men.
