Dear parents and carers,
Yesterday, the College was made aware of a social media post and local newspaper advert regarding proposals for the updating of our Articles of Association.
To be clear, these communications did not come from the College and we were not aware of them prior to notification of publication.
For information, the College has been working on the Articles for some time. We are now at the stage of preparing correspondence for circulation to parents and carers. It will include information about registering for membership. This will be followed up with further correspondence setting out details of any subsequent meeting.
The updating of articles of association is a legal process, made necessary by changes to the law. Shimna is just one of a number of GMI schools in Northern Ireland undertaking this task. As such, we are working closely with NICIE. I would like to reassure you there is no intention of removing parental and carer involvement in Shimna Integrated College.
It is expected that the correspondence referred to above will be circulated in the week commencing 9 September. Thank you in advance for your patience.
