Shimna students welcome Little Amal to Newcastle

KS3 students from Shimna's Amnesty International Group took a walk on Newcastle Promenade to welcome 12ft puppet, Little Amal, along with other local schools. Since July 2021, Little Amal has travelled to 160 towns and cities across 15 countries. She has become a symbol for refugees and human rights; 'Amal’s journey is a celebration of migration and cultural diversity that tells the story of the contributions made by refugees and immigrants.' The Amnesty members were excited to meet this remarkable celebrity and are planning to mark Refugee Week at the end of June with this positive experience in mind.
