Shimna students Springboard to the future

Twenty-one of our GCSE Food & Nutrition students attended a Hospitality Roadshow organised by Springboard NI at the Slieve Donard last week. It was a great opportunity to explore the many and varied career opportunities across the sector. The programme included a tour of the refurbished hotel, a CV writing workshop and the chance to meet representatives of leading businesses, such as Eats and Beats and Wake the Giant. They also heard from Conor Black, Food and Drink Operations Manager at the Slieve and Hazel Magill, Head Chef. Our students particularly enjoyed preparing and tasting their own mocktails. It was great to see former student Chyna Lavery, who now works at Café Rossi in Ballynahinch.

Mrs Murphy said, “we had a fantastic time and, as always, our students were great ambassadors for the College.”
