Shimna students push back the boundaries of Mathematics

Earlier this week, we were delighted to welcome back former student Gabriel Corrigan to the Maths Department at Shimna. Gabriel, who is about to commence a PhD at Glasgow University, delivered a fascinating lesson introducing to our budding Year 8, 12 and 14 mathematicians on algebraic topology and Knot Theory. Assistant Vice-Principal Jacqui Jones wrote: “This was a great opportunity for our students to see how much more there is to mathematical study and how unusual and exciting it can be when you are willing to stretch out your imagination to abstract concepts.”
