A real privilege to represent the College at this evening’s Mariners Memorial Service, organised by the Harbour Heritage Association. This special and deeply event commemorated the Newcastle Fishing Disaster of 1843, when 14 boats were caught in gale force winds, leading to the death of 73 men from Newcastle and Annalong. It was great to see the local community so well represented, very much in keeping with the way the community rallied together to support the families affected by the tragedy all those years ago.
Thank you to Ciara, Croi and Cruz for their readings, and to Robbie for laying a wreath on behalf of the Shimna.
