Mrs Doyle writes: “Our Junior Girls lost out to Loreto Omagh in a closely fought semi-final last week. All of the girls played extremely well, leading in the first quarter by one goal, in the second quarter they trailed by two goals, in the third quarter they reduced this to a one-goal lead but Loreto pulled away in the last quarter to win 20-13. Playing on a bigger court eventually took its toll on the Shimna girls in the last quarter.
Shimna shooters, Hope Sherlock and Lucy McGrady were excellent today, as were Parisa Susay-Quinn and Mila Astruc-Kidd who fed the ball into them. The Shimna defenders Eve Mc Namara, Sophie Mayers, Niamh Watson and Lucy Shiells all worked hard to keep the ball out of the Loreto circle. Well done to the girls on the bench today for supporting and encouraging their teammates: Kate Bradley, Mikaela Hannon, Annie Murray and Bridie Gribben.
A great achievement to reach the NI Junior Plate semi-final! Next year, with our new sports hall the girls will gain valuable experience playing full court. Well done, girls!”
