Circus Club rolls back into town

The smell of grease paint and sawdust is wafting out of the Sports Hall on Wednesdays as the Circus Club after-school sessions have started. A mix of year 8-11 students who come along and practise a range of skills, including juggling, plate-spinning, cigar boxes and flower sticks, unicycling and stilt-walking and creative play.

The club is led by our very own David Archer, LSA, who has over 30 years’ experience as a professional circus performer and practitioner.

David, who has been running the club for four years now, said that the skills learnt at the club can enhance hand-eye coordination concentration, creativity, and learning, not to mention it is a heathy way of getting non-competitive exercise.

The club is open to all Shimna students. Come along, even if you can’t make it every is and runs on Wednesdays between 3:30 and 4:30. So if you fancy running away with the circus or learning some new tricks or simply want to take a healthy break from revision and homework for an hour. just turn up to the Sports hall on Wednesday at 3:30. And it’s totally free!
