Academic offer

This qualification is a practical, work related course which involves learning through the completion of projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands, as well as working towards externally assessed exams.  This course is excellent preparation for working with people in any workplace situation but particularly for working with those that are vulnerable in some way and in need of care.

This level 3 BTEC course is equivalent to 1 A-level grade A*-C.

Extra-curricular offer

Successful completion of the course involves attendance at a number of different care facilities, working with a range of individuals of different age groups, with different additional needs.  Not only does this experience give you a solid foundation around which to base your coursework, it also provides you with strong practical experience to write about in UCAS and job applications, CVs and personal statements.  Many of our students build strong links with the care providers that they work with and as a result go back to the facility for voluntary, and in some cases, paid work.

What we do well

Developing confidence in students is something that we do well.  This is achieved through learning about effective communication and putting this into practice in class and while out on placement.  Most of our students leave at the end of 6th form with a strong skill set that helps them speak with professionals over the phone and in person, follow instructions in order to meet specific criteria and manage their time effectively in order to meet deadlines.
